I have to recreate a painting or photograph (probably black and white) by taking a picture and incorporating myself into art. I can use Photoshop and such to alter my photograph into something more artsy. However, I am having a hard time finding the right art because a) the painting/photograph has to be famous (so not something off of photobucket or flickr) and b) I’m asian and I can’t find a good painting/photo of an asian girl. Anyways, please help me out! If you have ANY ideas of a painting/photo with an asian girl that I can recreate, please tell me!!!
Thanks!
P.S. – The art can’t be too complicated either because I have limited resources (my camera, makeup, some paint, photoshop, some costumes). This is also a one person assignment so there can only be ONE girl in the painting.
Wait, you’re saying I should go on google and look up asian gothic?
How do you find artist (fine arts, not digital) in your area, like through their personal website?
I don’t want to hire anyone but I’d like to get tips and stuff, I’d like to think I’m good at doing sketching/pencil work but my painting could use some work. Is there a site with a search engine or something? Usually I see like www.__firstname_lastname__.com.
And how would I know it’s safe to meet with them (I’m 18, m.)?
I use Corel Painter X to do some Digital Paintings but I find it hard to paint with a Mouse. So what should I use to paint with Corel painter? Can I use a Stylus? or what other Peripheral Device should i use or is recommended to Use the Software?
There’s something about it I’m not happy with. I already have an idea what it is and how to fix it. But I thought you guys might want to add your two cents worth. Also, do you think the message is a little too subtle?
The colors are much more vivid in real life but my stupid digital camera doesn’t know this. Hopefully, you’ll get the general idea. and, as always, you can click on the image to enlarge it.
Thanks for any input and please be honest.
Miss Madam, they are poor children of the street, not women.
The the building is a copy of the Gucci Store on 5th. Avenue in New York City as it is today.
Mother_Nature_Mommie, thank you for your honestly. Yes, the painting is stark. It’s supposed to be. I’m trying to show how, in a land of abundance like America, that we can’t seem to help those who really need a helping hand.
The problem I have is with the glass doors. I wanted to show them as being somewhat forbidding (the reason for the darkened blues) and yet still be as transparent as glass is supposed to be. The only solution I can think of now is to lighten up the reflection of the glass. As it stands now it just seems too ‘muddy’ to me.
DW, I just happened to see a photograph of the front door of ‘Gucci’ in New York and wanted to paint it for several months. Then several weeks ago I was looking through some old depression era photographs and thought the children would make a nice contract in a painting between two very at odd levels of our socity.
